Just a Little More Time in the Oven
As we work towards getting open for the 2020 season, we feel much like the metaphorical roast waiting to be set upon the dinner table. We've been working so hard to get all the elements right to lay a delicious feast before our guests. But before we can sit down to eat, it must be cooked through and safe to enjoy. That's where we're at with the market season: the table is set, the guests are hungry and all that remains is that final check that'll let us know it's safe to eat. Early May is looking to be when the dinner bell will be rung, perhaps as soon as next weekend. We won't get your hopes up with an exact date too soon, but when we're given the all clear, we'll be ready to go. While we wait for those finishing details, we encourage you all to be proactive in planning for your 2020 market trips during these changed times. Perhaps that means planning out your shopping more than usual this season with a list ready of vendors and/or products you need before you get to market. If your favorite vendors are offering any pre-orders, you can place those orders during the week so your market trip will be as efficient as possible. Even something as simple as adjusting the time of your market visit can help spread out the crowds. Perhaps you can come a little later in the morning, rather than during the peak hours, as a way to help out. We mentioned last week the need to be creative, compassionate and patient during these times. By being flexible, being understanding and thinking outside the box of what's normal, we can all adapt to something different. We can all remember that however unfortunate or inconvenient these times are, they are temporary. We can make sacrifices now, knowing that we are doing so with the goal of life returning to normal. While we're still closed, you can find some of that normal in the form of your favorites from our vendors who've found creative ways to connect with their customers during this time. Check out the list below for alternative purchasing options from many of our vendors. You can also find some of these opportunities on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as they are made available. Our fingers will be crossed tightly this week in hopes of getting back to you all very soon. We wanted to say thank you to the many of you who reached out with kind words, offers of support and the general feeling that you miss the market! That means so much to us to hear that support. It's one thing to make a delicious meal, it's a whole other joy to be able to share it with our community. Until we can see you at market! Ben Zimmerman Market Manager
