Cranberry Madness

Cranberries are back from Wetherby Cranberry Co.
Cranberry Madness

The return of fresh cranberries is a October rite of passage at the market and this week we're gonna throw some great cranberry recipes your way in hopes you can celebrate with us.
Before that however, for those looking to enjoy this seasonal flavor without extra time in the kitchen, swing by Stella's Bakery for a loaf their delicious cranberry bread (pictured), a tasty replacement for your breakfast toast or a way to take your turkey sandwiches to the next level.
Speaking of turkey, Bryant Family Farms are currently accepting pre-orders for whole birds. Reserve yours today to have it in time for Thanksgiving, accompanied by some fresh cranberry relish of course.

We have some nice warm autumn days coming our way this weekend, and before you bring out the crock pots for mulling cider, give this refreshing cranberry ginger ale recipe a try. Westridge Organic Farm has some great fresh ginger in (pictured) to make this one a success.
Another light and fresh option featuring dried cranberries is this yummy kale salad recipe, filled with market fresh ingredients like fresh kale, radish, tart apples and goat cheese. Swap the pecans for hickory nuts from Bonde Bee for a truly local meal.
Of course we'd be remiss to offer recipes in October without including at least one soup option and you know we're talking squash soup here. This scrumptious butternut-cranberry soup is not only easy to make, but it's also very versatile allowing you to tweak the flavors or garnish to your hearts content.

You can even swap in your favorite type of winter squash if butternut is not your thing, or try with the fan-favorite mini honeynut variety, like these pictured from Emerald Meadows Family Farm.
Whether you dive into our recipes this week, can't wait to make your holiday favorite cranberry sauce, or just enjoy the cranberry honey from B's Honey, we hope you get a chance to savor one of those fall flavors that October brings. They only downside is knowing that cranberries of the bellwether to the end of the market season. Five weeks to go and so many flavors left to enjoy.
As a reminder, we ask shoppers and vendors alike to please use the new gravel paths going forward and to let the old foot paths heal over and regrow with their native plantings.
See you at the market!
