Back to School

Labor Day is behind us, school is back in session and the fall market season is here to get you in gear for what's to come when summer truly ends.
We got the first real visual of fall, with this lovely gourd, squash and pumpkin display from J + R Farm last weekend.
While we're still riding out the lack of early season apple varieties, we are slowly seeing more arrivals from Ten Eyck Orchard, plus some pears and plums around the market.

For those looking to try something creative this week, grab some pears & fresh potatoes for this sweet and savory Pear Gruyere Potato Gratin recipe.
New to market this past Saturday were these beautiful chayote squash from Dia & Khoua Vang. Eat it raw in salads, pickle it fresh, enjoy in soups or stir-frys or give this Spicy Pan-Roasted Chayote Squash recipe a try.
Savory Accents has something special in stock now for those who like the pepper flavor, but can't take the heat. Their new Habanada peppers (pictured) pack all the flavor of habanero without the spice factor. Add to soups, salsa or blend with a raspberry for a delicious jam.

It can take some time to ease back into regular fall programming, especially as the days stay so lovely, but the market is here with sights and flavors of fall to get you ready for the cool nights and delicious soups to come.
As a reminder, we ask shoppers and vendors alike to please use the new gravel paths going forward and to let the old foot paths heal over and regrow with their native plantings.
See you at the market!

As a reminder to everyone, dogs are prohibited within the market area, though we welcome service animals at all times.
