Autumn's Arrival
Fall is officially here and there's no denying that we're feeling it in the air and seeing the signs all around us, especially at market.
Fresh or sparkling apple cider (pictured) from Ten Eyck Orchard brings the first taste of the season home, as we bake the first apple pies and crumbles of the season.
Market tables stacked with winter squash, fresh potatoes, colorful carrots, beets and more, fill our recipe lists with hearty meals to match the cooling nights.
Pumpkin honey (pictured) is back at B's Honey, delicious atop morning toast, over sliced apples or in that cup a tea to take the edge off the first fall colds coming home from school.
Seven markets sit in front of us, giving plenty of time to celebrate autumn and enjoy all its wonders.
We're celebrating this weekend with free face painting for our youngest market goers. Our resident face painter, Snaggle Tooth Arts, will be out from 9am - 11am with lots of cute market themed ideas. Find them next to the Market Ramblers and the University House Preschool kids activities.
With plenty of season left and heavier produce to boot, it's never to late to start collecting your food scraps and dropping them off with Sustain Dane each week at market. Grab one of their free collections pails and help the fight to divert tons of food waste from our landfills this season.
Before we pirouette into our autumn markets, we like to share an interesting little story on farmers having some fun this September with their hay harvest. Can't say we've heard of tractor ballet before, but boy we hope this is a tradition that grows here in Wisconsin.
As a reminder, we ask shoppers and vendors alike to please use the new gravel paths going forward and to let the old foot paths heal over and regrow with their native plantings.

Vendor Notices
Unfortunately, due to a poor crop resultant of late spring frosts, Atoms to Apples will not return to the market until late October.
Driftless Chocolates will return to the market for the month of October with their delicious artisan chocolates.
Flyte Family Farms have finished vending for the 2026 season. A huge thank you to their loyal customers for supporting them this year. For those looking for some fall farm fun, check out their Fall Fest, held each weekend through October 31st.
