Crisp Autumn Air

We ended last weeks market with temps in the low 80s and it looks like we'll be kicking off this Saturday morning with frost on the ground.

If that doesn't sum up fall here in Wisconsin, I don't know what else could.

Change is a good thing though and with the hard shift to chillier days we find plenty of rewards to enjoy, like these pictured garlic braids from Sun & Moon Farm.

The extra layers needed for Saturdays market come with one very special reward, the return of Atoms to Apples with their delicious certified organic apples, cider and more. After tough crop losses from spring frosts, we hope you will all welcome them back with open arms and market totes ready to fill.

Nights this cold practically demand something warm and soothing for dinner. Give this tasty potato leek soup recipe a try with some great Yukon Gold potatoes from Don's Produce (pictured) and Pecatonica Valley Farm bacon.

As we journey towards our final market on November 7th, a lot of shoppers like to focus on stocking up for the winter by filling up the freezers with local meats, stocking pantries with honey and maple syrup and putting up storage crops to last as long as possible.

For others, these final four weeks are a chance to enjoy the fleeting treats of the season, like a fresh cup from Alice Good Coffee or a tasty Honey Bee Bakery pastry.

Pro-level shoppers know the holiday season is just around the corner and there are many good finds that

will make great gifts for friends and family. Grab a bottle of Firma Flavors olive oil for the chef in your life, or a bag of chocolate bark from Driftless Chocolates (pictured) for that loved one with a sweet tooth.

However you spend your time in this final stretch, we're thankful to have you. Be it a tank top or layers of fall sweaters, we've got to make the most of these remaining weeks.

As a reminder, we ask shoppers and vendors alike to please use the new gravel paths going forward and to let the old foot paths heal over and regrow with their native plantings.

See you at the market!

As a reminder to everyone, dogs are prohibited within the market area, though we welcome service animals at all times.
