Come mid-August, you just have to throw your hands up and accept that you can't try everything every week when it comes to market options.
Yet, we do get the chance to play around with our favorites and put a little adventure into the old staples.
With abundant cabbage, like these pictured beauties from J + R Farm, and pecks of peppers, give this simple pickled cabbage and peppers recipe a try. This is great atop tacos or as a side with burgers or brats. Kick it up a notch, by swapping in some poblanos, jalapeños or Thai chilies.
Whether it's atop homemade pizza, a bacon, egg & cheese sandwich or over this tasty roasted carrot recipe, hot honey is all the rage these days and Savory Accents has you covered with their homemade version (pictured).
Bryant Family Farms will be back with some of their great fresh, never frozen products this weekend, including some unique offerings like Guinea fowl, rabbit and Kadaknath (black meat) chicken. Give this savory Kadaknath pepper chicken recipe a try for something a little different than those plain grilled chicken breasts.
After all these spicy plates, it might be time to cool off with a slice of fresh melon, very good with a scoop of Murphy Farms cottage cheese or with a refreshing glass of this ginger-lemongrass limeade, with fresh lemongrass available from Ka Vang Thao (pictured).
You may not be able to have it all, but when it comes to mid-summer markets, you have more than enough to pick from.
