Feels Like Fall

ree

Give us crisp mornings, cozy sweaters and all things fall this week as summer seems to be in full retreat.

There's no better sign at market than the annual return of Wetherby Cranberry Co. with this year's crop of fresh Wisconsin cranberries (pictured).

Cabbages, turnips and sweet potatoes fill the tables, just trying to keep up with the abundance of winter squash varieties, growing by the week.

The chilly nights finally harken in the start of soup season, with so many options to try over coming weeks. Whatever ends up in the queue, hopefully one includes some freshly dug Don's Produce potatoes (pictured).

Five precious markets remain to us this season, meaning there's no wasting time when it comes to enjoying your favorites. Make the most of those fresh cheese curds, sweet treats from Honey Bee Bakery and freshly made dolmas from YallaDips.

The waning markets are also a good reminder to start making your "stock up" list for the coming winter. Whether it's a gallon or two of Open Kettle Farms maple syrup or filling the freezer with as much Highland Springs Farm beef as possible.

Cheese lovers rejoice, for B. Kurt Dairy is now offering large bricks of their cheddar (pictured), perfect for getting your cheese fix for months to come.

The countdown is real, so enjoy each market while you can. This weekend may be the last chance for sweet corn and some flowers, depending on the frosts to come. Take in all the colors, flavors and market fun while the crisp days last.

See you at the market!
