Happy Solstice

A happy summer solstice to everyone, just in time for the summer session of the market to kick off this weekend.

We have plenty to look forward to in the coming ten weeks, starting with plenty of fresh fruit. Shoua Lee Vang brought the first raspberries (pictured) of the season last weekend, with many more to come as June draws to a close.

Blueberries will be coming in late June/early July, followed later in the month by Door County cherries and more. Not too far down the road, we'll even spot early apples.

Before we get to that time however, there's plenty fresh to enjoy, like early beets (pictured) from Happy Valley Farm, crunchy kohlrabi from Sai's Garden and peppery arugula from Emerald Meadows Family Farm.

There's so much to come during our summer session, but if you're still playing catchup, now is the time to grab up your remaining vegetable, flower, herb and ornamental starts from vendors like County Line Plants & Produce & Kopke's Greenhouse.

As the spring plant season draws to the end, we said goodbye last Saturday to our newest native plant grower, Tend Native Plants. It was a pleasure to have them join us this spring with their many pollinator-friendly offerings. We'll miss them over the summer, but are excited to have them back for a short run in the fall with some autumn plantings.

Our thanks to everyone for their patience during these repaving weeks. Just as a reminder customers can park along Charmany Drive as well as in the large Exact Sciences parking lot at 501 Charmany Drive, just across the street from the south entrance (see map below).

We can't wait to share all the wonders of the summer session with you, but we'll just have be patient for all the delicious fruit and veggies to come. At least Steppin' Out Foods can tide us over with their many fruit jams (pictured), a preview of what'll be coming down the line.

See you at market!

As a reminder to everyone, dogs are prohibited within the market area, though we welcome service animals at all times.

Market Lot Repaving

The parking lot aisles where the market is held will undergo repaving starting June 10th. During the 3-weeks the work is being done, the market will relocate to the eastern three aisles in the same lot and the western aisles and entrances will be closed to traffic. We anticipate this to affect the markets on June 15th, 22nd, & 29th.

Customers will still be able to park along Rosa Road, Charmany Drive and also utilize the large parking lot just across the street behind Exact Sciences on Charmany Drive as well. The market will return to our normal placement within the MG&E Innovation Center lot once the work is completed.

 Vendor & Weekly Market Notices

Blue Moon Community Farm are currently on their early-summer market hiatus. They will return to vend with their tasty certified organic produce later in July.

There is an ongoing GoFundMe campaign to aid the family of Kenny Jasengou, son of Kelly Lor of Lor Farm as Kenny currently fights for his life after multiple surgeries related to a damaged heart and aortic valve stemming from a bacterial blood infection. A father of 5 and all around kind person, Kenny has been a long time friendly face of the market, aiding his mom over the years selling flowers and produce. Those interested in donating can find more information here.
