Just a Little Savor

First Cider Pressing of 2021 from Pleasant Springs Orchard

Just a Little Savor

What is it that makes the last days of summer so lovely?

Surely the knowledge of the shortened days to come makes our appreciation more present. At least that's how we feel knowing the end of the market season is not too far off in the distance.

While we can enjoy it, these waning golden days are for indulgence in the rich pleasures of summer's end like ripe grapes from Urban Gourmet, bouquets of sunflowers from Ka Vang Thao and succulent organic sweet corn from JenEhr Family Farm (pictured).

The cool morning air is as welcome as the Crimson Crisp apples coming in this week from Mt. Horeb's Atoms to Apples. The late summer days warming slowly like a crock of fresh cider from Pleasant Springs Orchard, filling our noses with the fragrant smells of fall at our door.

Those market mornings seem more precious by the week, each Stella's Bakery cinnamon roll (pictured) sweeter in knowing their absence over the winter months.

Eight more weeks stand before us until we pack away for the season, giving us all plenty of time to savor the market bounty.

As we push on to the end of September you can expect a full yield to the fall's colors and flavors with plenty of squash, pumpkins, mums, cabbage and more to be found by the week.

A loving send off to the summer days this week, but as we were reminded of at the Blue Moon Community Farm booth this past Saturday, nothing beets the beauty of autumn (pictured).

See you at market!
