National Farmers Market Week
It's a hard thing to pinpoint down that one thing that makes farmers markets so special.
Obviously it's not one thing, but to capture the joy of market season in words is no small feat. For some it's the natural Wisconsin love of a bag of squeaky fresh Schroeder's Kase cheese curds (pictured), so special in that fleeting fresh moment.
The ever changing seasonal offerings are one more reason to shop the market from spring to fall. This past weekend, our newest season flavor was fresh ground cherries from Emerald Meadows Family Farm (pictured), perfect for fresh snacking or in a tasty pie.
It's not all about what's for sale when it comes to market appreciation. The opportunity for our community to come together provides us many benefits. From catching up with our neighbors to dancing to live music, to asking questions of Master Gardeners, as we'll have the chance this weekend. All these things feed our summertime souls.
Sometimes the simplicity in market love comes from the love of treating ourselves to the good stuff that puts a smile on our faces. It's the bouquet of fresh flowers for our loved ones, the Chris & Lori's Bakehouse scones shared with our market friends as we do the morning stroll or the Bonde Bee honey stick (pictured) that puts a smile on every little ones' face.
When every week feels like a celebration of the wonders of the market, it's easy to overlook the truly unique world we live in when we congregate week to to week. That being said, we hope we never take this special experience for granted.
