September is here, school is back in session and with the changes we welcome the coming fall flavors just in time for Labor Day weekend.

For those with plans of grilling out, stop by Highland Spring Farm for some delicious ground beef or your favorite cut, while Pecatonica Valley Farm has you covered with tasty hot dogs and plenty of varieties of brats.

Early potatoes are abundant around the market from vendors like Emerald Meadows Family Farm and Ka Vang Thao, perfect for some fresh potato salad like this classic German potato salad recipe.

Circling back to the grill, find some crunchy fresh lettuce from Perez Produce and don't forget a slice of B. Kurt Dairy cheddar (pictured) to top those burgers with.

For dessert, melons are more than abundant at market now, with varieties of red, yellow and seedless watermelons available, plus different cantaloupes in a variety of sizes. Find options from Natalie's Garden & Greenhouse, Flyte Family Farms and Alsum Sweet Corn.

Nothing brightens up the picnic table more than a beautiful bouquet of flowers, like these pictured dahlia's from B's Honey, or a classic mixed bouquet from Hope & Hill Flower Co. and this coming weekend you can also find bouquets from our springtime flower favorite, Yellow Dog Flowers.

For those looking forward to getting some fall planting done, we're also welcoming back Tend Native Plants for the month of September with their broad selection of pollinator-friendly perennials.

Whether you're in for a weekend of work or rest, we hope you'll kick things off with us at market this Saturday morning.

As a reminder, we ask shoppers and vendors alike to please use the new gravel paths going forward and to let the old foot paths heal over and regrow with their native plantings.
