It was May that came in like a lion this year, with a fierce wind blowing out the cold and ushering in a balmy day for the third market of the 2021 season.
As the temperature rose, so did the number of vendors as we welcomed back Kopke's Greenhouse with their vast selection of plant starts & lovely hanging floral baskets. We also were delighted with a pop-in visit from Alsum Sweet Corn and their frozen sweet corn and corn chowder.
This coming Sunday is Mother's Day (reminder!) making Saturday the perfect time to do a little shopping for the moms in your life. Be it a bouquet of tulips from Ka Vang Thao or a box of Driftless Chocolates (both pictured), the market is a great place to find something special for the moms who do so much for us.
For some moms the best gift might be a homemade breakfast featuring some of those great market flavors like fresh sheep's milk cheese from Landmark Creamery over slices of Honey Bee Bakery semolina bread or a market frittata with asparagus from Black Earth Valley & fresh greens from JenEhr Family Farm.
This year more than ever we wish to say thank you to the moms of all types for keeping our hearts lifted during this crazy pandemic and beyond. In the home of this market manager, we're grateful to be celebrating our first Mother's Day as we welcomed a baby boy into the world this past Sunday.
Knowing their future will be filled with market trips with mom brings as much joy as it does when we see other little shoppers make those trips of their own, or the memory of market strolls with my mom many years ago.

Blue Moon Community Farm is once again offering a preorder for their vegetable, flower & herb seedlings. Customers can pick up their orders at market or take a trip down to their farm outside of Stoughton for the scheduled pickup day.
