National Farmers Market Week
The first week of August is here and with it, the celebration we look forward to every year, National Farmers Market Week.
Throughout our 30+ week season, we feel like we try to celebrate our little market community whether it's rainy, like last Saturday, cold and chilly, like some early and late season markets can be, or the perfect bluebird 75 degree day that blesses us from time to time.
Yet, during National Farmers Market Week, we get the chance to celebrate with markets around the country, in recognition of what farmers markets do and how they bring so many of us together.
The rural and the urban divide is erased as shoppers peruse the offerings from the field each week. The patron meets the maker as they hunt for fresh cheese or a delicious loaf of bread.
It's the flowers, the flavors and the feeling of knowing what you're buying, who it's coming from and what it means to connect the dots directly instead of being lost in a sea of middlemen.
We take pride in knowing our dollars are going directly to support these farmers and producers in our area and in turn they hire our neighbors, shop at local stores and keep the cycle moving in our local economies.
As we say, we may feel like we celebrate every week rain or shine, but this time around we all deserve a round of applause. From farmer, to shopper, to volunteer to every other soul lending their time to Saturday market mornings, we salute you.
As a reminder, we ask shoppers and vendors alike to please use the new gravel paths going forward and to let the old foot paths heal over and regrow with their native plantings.

As a reminder to everyone, dogs are prohibited within the market area, though we welcome service animals at all times.
