Spooky Season

Halloween is almost here and the chill of fall has truly arrived.

As we approach the last few market mornings, we're in awe of how many good finds are still out there. Market staples, like fresh Madison Sourdough bread and Murphy Farms eggs endure right to the end, while late October has brought us new finds, like Hakurai turnips, beauty heart radishes and on-stalk Brussels sprouts (pictured).

While trick-or-treaters might not appreciate the sprouts, the market can help you out in the sweets department. Local honey sticks (pictured) are a great alternative to traditional candy, without sacrificing that sweet sugary rush.

For those who stand outside during the festivities, remember that a crockpot of fresh apple cider warms the soul, even on the scariest of nights. Whether you add a little adult refreshment to your mug, well let's just say that's your own business.

If you haven't yet carved your pumpkin (or turnip), the market is full of options for the spookiest or silliest jack-o-lantern, with options available from several growers, like Happy Valley Farm.

Drawing near to the end of spooky season means the holidays are just around the corner. It's never too early to grab some gifts and in the spirit of the season, we're offering a special on our market totes (pictured). For the last few weeks of market, you can get two totes for $20!

This Saturday is the last chance to get Double Dollars for the remainder of the season. FoodShare shoppers can get up to $20 matched for fresh fruits and vegetables. Dollars can be spent through the remainder of the season, and shoppers can still get unmatched FoodShare dollars in November.

Our last market is November 8th, meaning we've just three weeks left! Talk about scary...

See you at the market!
