Strawberry Success
Early strawberries from Live Jewelry Farm
Strawberry Success
If you blinked, you missed it. That's how quick the first strawberries of the season sold out this past Saturday, even with berries coming in from Flyte Family Farms, Shoua Vang and Live Jewelry Farm.
Thankfully the berry harvest grows from here, with more fruit expected over the next few weeks, perfect for trying out this delicious strawberry-rhubarb freezer jam.
Beyond berries, the summer greens are really picking up with beautiful heads of lettuce coming in from vendors like Ka Vang Thao and Black Earth Valley (pictured).
As for new offerings, we've been happy to welcome two new vendors over the last couple of weeks. Ernie's African Kick Sauce joined us starting June 4th with their mild and hot sauces (pictured). Swing by their booth for a sample or you'll be kicking yourself for missing out.
Last weekend we also welcomed Rude Brew Kombucha with their selection of seasonally flavored kombucha sure to hit the spot on these hot summer days.
Speaking of hot summer days, we're thankful the heat will subside for the market this weekend and hope that everyone has weathered the storms of this week without too much damage.
Our many thanks to the crews who've worked round the clock to restore power to the 21,000+ residents who were affected during Monday's storm and thanks to the city crews clearing brush and roadways. We also want to give thanks to all the neighbors who helped out by hauling brush, offering fridge/freezer space and opening up their homes to those without a cool place to go following the storm.
As a community market, we know the best things happen when people come together to lend a hand in times like these. Kudos to you all.
Hopefully the market this weekend will give you all a chance to unwind as you shop for your favorites and swap stories of making it through this crazy week.
See you at market!
