From Sun to Snow
Fresh and crispy radishes from Blue Moon Community Farm
From Sun to Snow
When we kicked off the season on April 15th to sunshine and temps in the upper 70's, we knew we could expect some more average spring weather in the coming weeks. What we didn't expect was snowfall on and off during our second week. C'est la vie, it's April in Wisconsin after all.
That didn't stop us from enjoying the morning, as the signs of spring were still in sight. Fresh radishes, green garlic and several types of early season greens were in at Blue Moon Community Farm. Bonde Bee delighted us with watercress and those amazing spring treasures, fresh ramps (pictured).
Freshness didn't end with produce, as Rude Brew Kombucha kept us satisfied with their ever-rotating offering of kombucha flavors.
The snowfall didn't stop shoppers from loading up on market staples like Hot & Spicy Cheesebread from Stella's Bakery or fresh cheese curds from Murphy Farms (pictured).
Cold spring days always call out for something warm and hearty to lift our spirits when it comes to dinner time. Thankfully, Bryant Family Farms is there with a full array of delicious pasture-raised poultry, ideal for a pot of homemade chicken soup, roasted chicken breast or crock pot chicken wings.
Temps will be up a smidge this weekend, but it looks like we'll be trading snow for rain, so be sure to grab those umbrellas and rain jackets as you head out to market.
We can't win them all weather-wise, but we sure hope the old saying rings true: "April showers (rain or snow!) bring May flowers."
See you at the market!
