The market was packed to the gills this past Saturday, and there could be no better way to send off such a bountiful September. We had every stall filled and even a few vendors plugged into some extra spaces as we enjoyed a sunny market day and with 47 total vendors, it's safe to say it was the busiest market of the season! It was a great day to stroll the market with a flaky treat from Madison Sourdough as you scope out the deals of the day. The first pumpkin bouquets from Country Bloomers Greenhouse were a delight to see, especially those nice white pumpkins. Beyond the decorative, pie pumpkins and winter squash are coming in from several of our produce vendors. Blue Moon Community Farm brought us some great fall spinach. With some relief from the summer heat, the fall greens that are coming in, like kale, spinach and lettuces, are as tasty as any time all season long. As we push on into October it's hard to believe we have just 5 precious markets to enjoy before we say farewell for 2017! That's plenty of time to get your shopping in, but as the weather cools we can't avoid the inevitable. Take advantage of market season while it lasts!
Jordandal Farms have finished vending for the season. They thank everyone for coming out this season! Roots Chocolate & Door County Fruit Markets will both be absent this Saturday, October 7th. They will both return the following week.

Fall Fun Next Weekend!
Join us Saturday, October 14th for our final market event of the 2017 season. We'll have some games and sidewalk chalk to go along with pumpkin and gourd decorating. As always, this fun event is free of charge and open to kids of all ages. Honey sticks from B's Honey

First cranberries of 2017 from Wetherby Cranberry Company!
It's all cranberries this week with two tasty recipes to try out. First, a fresh twist on cranberry relish with fresh ginger and then, for the adults, a cranberry sangria utilizing the best of fall with both fresh apples and apples cider. Enjoy!
Ginger Cranberry Relish
(Adapted from Gorvand Armstrong) Ingredients: - 2 bag fresh cranberries - 1 c. sugar - Zest and juice from 1 navel orange - 1/2 tbsp fresh ginger, peeled & grated Directions:
1. Place all ingredients in a food processor; pulse several times until mixture is chunky.
(From Lauren Miyashiro, Delish) Ingredients: - 1/2 c. whole cranberries - 2 apples, diced and tossed with lemon juice - 1 c. apple cider - 1/4 c. cranberry juice - 1 bottle white wine - 1 c. Seltzer water - Thinly sliced apple, for garnish
Add fresh fruit to a medium pitcher. Pour wine, cranberry juice, apple cider and seltzer over the fruit. Stir to combine. Cover pitcher and refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour. Serve with thin apple slices for garnish.
