Shimmering red radishes from Westridge Organic Farm

Warm & Waning

ree

October is here and with it plenty of great fall finds, and some oddly warm days in the upper 80's.

Soon enough things will cool down, but for now we're enjoying the warm autumn wonders, like the pictured wild golden oyster mushrooms from Fungi Farmers.

This past weekend we said goodbye for the year to Flyte Family Farms, but not before enjoying the last of their sweet corn and watermelons.

Cranberries return this weekend, alongside plenty more tasty winter squash, like these pictured honeynuts from Emerald Meadows Family Farm. This butternut cross is small, but packed with flavor. Enjoy these little cuties on your own or part of a larger roasted vegetable array.

The fall is bringing plenty of other great fall finds in, especially in the produce department. Look for giant heads of cauliflower from vendors like Perez Produce and County Line Plants & Produce.

Atoms to Apples even had their first full gallons of cider to add to the lineup this last weekend, but you better come early if you want to grab up the large size.

While we're waiting out the days cool enough to pour some cider into a crockpot with a stick of cinnamon, we might as well embrace the heat and scoop up some of the many hot pepper varieties available around the market.

This week we were blown away by cute pictured Biquinho peppers from Savory Accents. This Brazilian variety packs a lot of flavor and not too much heat into their tiny packages.

Save the sweaters, but we hope you'll join us this weekend to kick off October and the last full month of market season. The countdown begins soon...

See you at the market!
