Happy National Farmers' Market Week!
Black Ice Plums from Atoms to Apples
Happy National Farmers' Market Week!
Raise those market totes high! National Farmers' Market Week is here!
Each week at the WCM may feel like a special celebration, but that first week of August hits different when you look around and see all the beauty of locally grown, raised and produced food, flowers and more.
From the weekly joys of fresh Murphy Farms' cheese curds to the surprise find of Black Ice plums from Atoms to Apples, each market holds something special to be found.
Celebrating the farmers' market can mean loading up on San Marzano paste tomatoes (pictured) from Black Earth Valley for homemade salsa, capturing the flavors of the market season to be enjoyed long into the season.
A bouquet of bright sunflowers from Natalie's Garden & Greenhouse offers a more fleeting, albeit beautiful, form of celebration to lighten up the home.
All good celebrations involve some element of anticipation. For the patient reveler, the time has finally come for fresh shishito peppers from Savory Accents (pictured), ready for an ever so flavorful summer side dish.
The element of tradition in annual celebrations is not to be under-appreciated as well. For the seasonal pickler, the month of August marks a time to not only celebrate the love of your local farmers' market, but also the time to get those canning jars loaded down with your favorite take on pickles. Ka Vang Thao has you covered with crates upon crates of ripe cucumbers (pictured). Pardon our pun, but it's kind of a big dill for many.
At the end of it all, we celebrate you for supporting local. From farmers to bakers, the revelry is a testament to those who make local food possible. We celebrate our growers, our cheesemakers, our maple syrupers, our orchardists and of course, you, the wonderful folk who show up rain or shine to keep farmers' markets in your community.
This year our hat is off to you!
See you at market!
